For all of you out there still eagerly awaiting your copy of Visual Studio 2008 that was promised to you at DevConnections, have no fear. I contacted an agent at Penton Media/Tech Conferences yesterday and I was told that they are expecting the product to be in their hands from the manufacturer in the next few weeks. They will be sending out copies as soon as they are received from the manufacturer. So, plan on having Visual Studio 2008 in your hands come mid to late January.

In the mean time, download and install the 90-day trial edition. Scott Guthrie will hook you up with all those new trial goodies!

Umm... ya, have no fear. This post is over a month old and we still have no copies of Visual Studio 2008. Any updates?

I shot them an email this morning. I will post any new information that comes back.

Got this today (1/29/08):

"We apologize for the delay but we are hoping to receive them this week in our mail house, once we do you will receive a notification e-mail."

Ya I got that same response, but considering they where expecting them a month ago too, I'm not holding my breath.

They advertised it as "be one of the first to get VS 2008", well that is obviously out the window.

I received this reponse on Feb 27 when I asked if they had a definite ship date:

"We apologize for the delay but no we do not."

Then almost immediately got another reply to the same email

"The product is shipping this week."

Well - this week ends today - Feb 29th!!!

As far as I am concerened Penton Media falsely advertised "be one of the first to get VS 2008" and needs to make amends with those of us who have been waiting.

I was told to expect a copy in the mail this week. They told me they finally shipped them out via certified mail. I hope you get your copy Joe!

Got mine in the mail today! Sweet! VS 2008 Standard Edition! It took so long I was hoping that Service Pack 1 would be out by the time it got here. :)

I got mine last week, too. At least they shipped it certified so that I got to visit the Post Office to pick it up!

I'm glad I got it, but I'm not quite "one of the first" to have a copy, that's for sure ...

Will I be seeing you this fall at OpenForce?
